Mechanical Iris
3ds Max · Editable native geometry and guided denoise comparisons

Creative goal
Retain editable native geometry, compare denoisers with retained real guide channels, and distinguish SDK, UI and transport evidence.
Twelve blades, twelve pivot caps and 48 distinct fasteners form a 440 × 440 × 34 mm mechanical iris. Native renders, real Max UI captures and RAW / Skill OIDN / Noice comparisons are available; the short interval does not replace a complete animation.
Models and versions
Production, post-production and review are attributed separately. Unknown means records are insufficient; it does not mean the current model produced the work.

Version history
- Limited evidence publication ·
Added to the visible case catalog; full-film and reversal review are deferred at the user’s direction and remain untested, alongside installation, transport and wireframe gaps. Publication does not mean acceptance of every stage.
English translation. Read the original Chinese text. Source evidence, downloads and native artwork retain their original language.
Prompt
Create an original mechanical iris, save and reopen the native project, and check FBX reimport and sampled animation matrices. Retain linear EXRs and real guide channels, invoke OIDN through the canonical Core Skill and run Noice independently. Capture real UI through DCC-CUA and record verified results separately from unfinished stages.
Reusable instructions derived from the actual process, not the user’s verbatim wording; the adapted recipe has not been rerun from a blank scene.

3ds Max DCC-MCPNative adapter handlers authored geometry and checked save/reopen, FBX and sampled matrices; this does not establish MCP transport or normal-install acceptance.
dcc-media-enhance Core Skill / OIDNThe canonical in-process Python Core Skill uses actual beauty, normal and albedo channels; this verifies orchestration and the real backend, not a new denoising algorithm.
Autodesk NoiceAn independently executed native denoise reference with the same source inputs and display conversion as OIDN.
dcc-cuaBound the task-owned native window and captured the scene and state after one background UIA Modify-tab action.
Adapters and related projects
Refer to project documentation for installation, compatibility and current capabilities. This case's actual environment and execution evidence are recorded above.
Step-by-step process
Native geometry and reopen
84 objects and 48 distinct fasteners; maximum matrix delta was zero at five sampled frames after save/reopen and FBX reimport.
Real channels and algorithm comparison
Actual beauty, normal and albedo passthrough pixels match the source EXR within 1e-6. Original inputs are retained and OIDN and Noice execute separately.
Bounded UI interaction evidence
Background WGC capture and a UIA tab action passed. No object was selected; modifier parameters, wireframe and timeline operations remain unaccepted.
Models and evaluation records
Public examples, not a blind evaluation set or leaderboard. Missing values stay unrecorded and are not averaged or ranked.
No runs under a shared protocol are recorded yet; historical attribution remains in the existing stage-specific records.

Results

Verification and boundaries
| Check | Result | Observations and supporting evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Native geometry and transfer | Passed | Native reopen and FBX samples of 84 objects at frames 1/24/72/96/144 have zero matrix delta. |
| Real guides and completed manifests | Passed | Beauty, normal and albedo pixel comparisons are within 1e-6; canonical Skill completion records and original input hashes are retained. |
| Actual Max UI | Passed | Two real captures and one background UIA tab action passed; an earlier foreground-activation refusal is retained separately. |
| Full-film and reversal review | not_run | Only an eight-frame interval was completed; production of the complete 144-frame film was deferred at the user’s direction. |
| Installation, transport and wireframe | not_run | This case does not establish normal MZP installation, MCP transport, wireframe or modifier-parameter UI acceptance. |
Evidence limits
- This is a public case with limited verification; it does not claim full-film, reversal, actual natural-speed playback or mechanical collision acceptance.
- Reused frame 48 and frames 49–55 use different sampling patterns, so the boundary cannot isolate denoiser flicker.
- The native project and FBX remain private; a sanitized public copy and independent blank-scene rebuild are unfinished. The actual camera uses a 45° FOV.
- The adapter and media tool are identified source candidates; source CI, UI captures and an in-process Skill do not establish release, installation or transport acceptance.
