Creative goal

Validate nested parent-child transforms, expression drivers, camera constraints, mechanical clearances, an actual continuous film, native-scene portability and animation export.

Three driven rings counter-rotate around an ivory ceramic core, revealing bearings and connecting shafts. Continuous camera movement shows the brass, deep green enamel and calibrated plinth.

Models and versions

Production, post-production and review are attributed separately. Unknown means records are insufficient; it does not mean the current model produced the work.

Version history

  • v1 ·

Original native procedural creation, continuous film, clearance checks, native roundtrip and baked animation export.

  • Review integration 2026-10-18 ·

Clarified the historical tool scope, added bilingual presentation and the report artifact layout, and tightened the export assertion to the three expected animated-object identities. Native scene, GLB, images, film and original production measurements are unchanged. The source package now includes the revised guard and a package-specific README.

English translation. Read the original Chinese text. Source evidence, downloads and native artwork retain their original language.

Prompt

Reusable prompt template
Research current public kinetic sculpture and official free skills, then design an original tabletop orbital kinetic sculpture. Use actual Blender DCC-MCP, retaining editable geometry and materials, three rotation drivers, a camera Track To constraint and continuous animation. Review low-resolution frames first to correct axis orientation and cropping, then perform actual frame-by-frame CPU rendering. Check the full-timeline motion envelope, ring/column BVH collisions, native save/reopen, baked GLB reimport, and the film’s duration and consecutive frames. Publish the native project, film and reproduction code, clearly distinguishing scripting from typed-tool coverage; do not present a slideshow of still images as motion.

Reusable instructions, not the user’s verbatim words.

Software and tools

Host
Blender 4.5.14 LTS · CPU Cycles
Adapter / Core / CLI
0.2.16 / 0.20.42 / 0.20.42;gateway_port=0
Video
960 × 540 · 24 fps · 360 independent frames · 15 seconds · 16 samples
  • blender_scripting__execute_script_file

Original geometry and driver assembly, BVH checks, animation export and sanitization; this is an explicitly disclosed scripting fallback.

  • blender_scene__open_scene / save_scene

    Actual native-scene save and reopen.

  • blender_animation__set_current_frame / blender_render__render_scene

Advanced frame by frame and performed actual Cycles renders, writing each frame separately to disk.

  • blender_render__set_render_settings

Configured the actual output settings and read them back.

Refer to project documentation for installation, compatibility and current capabilities. This case's actual environment and execution evidence are recorded above.

Step-by-step process

  1. Design and official-tool checks

Reviewed contemporary orbital kinetic sculpture and the official Extra Mesh Objects extension. Used native geometry to minimize dependencies; no reference assets were copied.

  2. Actual preview revisions

Corrected parent-child transform updates, left/right shaft connections and plinth cropping; moved the columns outward to maintain clearance during motion.

  3. Full-timeline geometry checks

Evaluated the ring extrema at every frame and checked ring-to-ring and ring-to-column BVH intersections every five frames; retained the numerical evidence.

  4. Continuous film and native round trip

Both the native scene and GLB were reopened for inspection. The film was encoded from consecutive, independently rendered frames, without frame interpolation or duplicated still images.

Results

15 seconds · 960×540 · 24 fps · 360 independently rendered Cycles frames · Silent
Front product view with the rings open
Web JPEG copy of frame 1 of the final animation
Animated pose with the outer ring turned horizontal
Frame 90 of the final animation
Contact sheet of key frames decoded from the actual final film
Twelve evenly spaced frames decoded from the final film for visual QA

Verification and boundaries

Check records; each row distinguishes historical measurements from this review.
CheckResultObservations and supporting evidence
Typed driver channelsFailedrotation_euler.z returned ValueError; the unindexed vector fallback configured only X and also created zero-valued Y/Z drivers. Production explicitly used scripting with specified axis indices.
Native scene and driversPassed122 objects, three working drivers and a Track To constraint; the sanitized, compressed native scene was reopened and has no external textures.
Mechanical clearancesPassedIn Blender scene units: minimum vertical ring-to-plinth clearance of 0.382 and minimum horizontal ring-to-column clearance of 0.063; sampled BVH checks found no intersections.
Animated GLBPassedReimported 115 objects, including three objects with baked animation; sampled matrices showed actual changes.
Actual videoPassedffprobe and full-video decoding passed: 360 independent source frames, 24 fps and 15 seconds.
Browser playback / GUInot_runThe cloud browser explicitly rejected the file URL. No alternate route was used to bypass that denial, and GUI acceptance is not claimed.

Evidence limits

  • The typed-driver fix prompted by this case is tracked in separate Draft PR #298; this production did not upgrade to or use the fixed version.
  • This is not fabrication-ready engineering certification; intentional bearing connections are not counted as collisions.
  • Embedded MCP passed; shared gateway/CLI calls did not pass. The specific compatibility findings are included.
  • The GLB excludes the studio, camera and native text; material fidelity across renderers is not claimed.
  • The public responses are a minimal sanitized subset, not the complete original trace.
  • The exact backend model and reasoning effort were not independently verified; both remain unknown.
